FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS |
How do I register my child for summer camp? To register your child, you have two choices. The first would be to log on to www.cvivianstringercamp.com and download, print and mail in the C. Vivian Stringer Camp Registration Form along with your $100 non-refundable deposit. The second would be to request one of our brochures by emailing wbball@scarletknights.com and completing the registration form provided with the brochure and returning it along your $100 non-refundable deposit. Once your registration is received, you will immediately be entered into our database and a confirmation letter along with addition camp information will be sent to you within a week to 10 days. When is my final payment due? There is a $100 non-refundable deposit due with your completed registration form. The balance of your camp fee is due no later than two (2) weeks prior to the start of your respective camp. If payment is not received within two (2) weeks prior to the start of camp, your registration will be cancelled. Are there any additional fees? Yes, should your daughter be participating in one of our overnight camps, she will require a room key and swipe card. An $80 key deposit will be required at the time of check-in. The key deposit must be paid in cash and will be returned immediate at the conclusion of camp when the room key and swipe card are turned in. Should either the room key or swipe card not be returned, the $80 key deposit will be forfeited. A $30 fee will be charged for any returned checks. What forms are necessary to complete a camper’s file? All campers must have a Registration Form on file along with a completed Medical and Insurance Form. The Medical and Insurance Form will be mailed to campers once the Registration Form is received. No camper will be allowed to participate without the appropriate forms on file. Does my child have to have a physical for camp? No, but all campers must have the Medical and Insurance Form filled out by a parent/guardian in order to participate in camp. Where will campers reside if they are an overnight camper? All Resident Individual campers will reside in the Quads on the Livingston Campus of Rutgers University. The Quads are located within walking distance of the RAC (Rutgers Athletic Center) where all camp activities take place. Campers will be paired two to a room for this camp. Any roommate requests need to be submitted by both participants of the camp on your Registration Form. Campers without a roommate request will be paired with someone from their age group. Do camp staff members stay overnight in the dorms? Yes, members of the C. Vivian Stringer Basketball Camp staff will reside in the dorms for the duration of camp. On average, there are 1 to 2 staff members per floor in the dorm. Furthermore, all campers must be in their own rooms by 11:00 pm each night as room checks are conducted each night by a member of the camp staff. A trainer also resides in the dorm overnight should there be a medical emergency. How do the meals work for camp? For Individual Camp, the first meal will be dinner (pizza party) on Sunday, July 25. Overnight campers will then receive 3 meals on Monday, July 26, Tuesday, July 27 and breakfast and lunch on Wednesday, July 28. All meals, except for the first meal on Sunday, July 25, are served in the dining hall and offer a wide assortment of choices. For Commuters, lunch and dinner will be provided while at camp. Breakfast should be eaten prior to arriving each day for camp. For Day Camp participants, meals will not be provided. Please bring your own lunch and water bottle (refrigeration is not available). There will be an opportunity each day to purchase lunch (1 slice of pizza, bag of chips and drink) for $5 when first arriving at camp each morning. Commuter participants should eat a good breakfast before arriving at camp. What should my child bring if staying overnight? All campers must be dressed appropriately for camp (i.e., shorts, t-shirts, basketball shoes) for each session of camp. Rain gear is recommended for outside walking in case of inclement weather. Shower shoes are also highly recommended as well as a sweatshirt or light jacket. The residence hall does NOT provide linens or towels for campers use. Therefore, it is necessary that each camper bring her own overnight supplies for her room (twin size beds). The dorms are NOT air-conditioned and bringing a fan for the room is recommended. Any camper that will need regular medical treatment (i.e., taping) should bring her own supplies. The C. Vivian Stringer Basketball Camp will not supply such items unless in an emergency. Any camper bringing medication will be required to notify our certified athletic trainer upon registration the first day of camp. How do I get to the camp? We ask that you remain off the floor so that no games or drills are compromised during the camps. You may sit in the stands and on the concourse. No one is allowed on the main floor. Camp schedules will be available upon check-in. Is there a camp store? Yes, the camp store will be open during check-in and will remain open throughout the duration of camp. The $100 deposit will NOT be refunded for any circumstance. No refunds will be given to any request made after camp begins or to a camper sent home for disciplinary reasons.
